Quick update

Our robot is coming together fast thanks to huge support from the on-campus machine shop and our industry partners. Frame pieces have been machined and will be bolted together shortly — we expect a fully assembled frame by the end of August. Meanwhile, electrical integration and weapon prototyping are progressing well.

What we’ve completed

  • Electrical & drivetrain integration started — We have begun working on our drive system and connecting all of our drive components. Soon we should have fully capable and driving robot. A huge part of our plan involves manufacturing and molding our own wheels.

  • Wheel Molds and Rear Guard Panels

  • Weapon prototype & pulley system — prototype pulley/belt routing and early weapon tests underway.

  • Senior Design collaboration — our weapon design is a Senior Design Project with UA Mechanical Engineering; they completed strength analysis and are manufacturing a unique single-tooth weapon in WearAlloy 500 (courtesy of Ford Steel).

What’s next

  1. Finish bolting the main frame and begin structural testing.

  2. Finalize wheels and drivetrain assembly — Motion Industries has provided key bearings and components (Thank You!).

  3. Complete weapon assembly and begin integrated testing with the drivetrain.

  4. Continue arena fabrication with support from Nucor Tuscaloosa.
